FIFA 06 - ROAD TO WORLD CUP X-BOX 360

The first game I think I ever played on a Playstation was Road to World Cup 1998. That was 8 years ago. Now, a lot has happened over those 8 years. I finished school and ended up on national television talking to a penguin…weird…
But more importantly, a little thing called the Xbox 360 was invented, and Road to World Cup 2006 has just come out on this spectacular piece of gaming innovation.

What a difference 8 years makes in the gaming world! First of all, I have to talk about the graphics of this incredible soccer game. You can easily be forgiven for thinking you are watching a televised football game when you’re playing this puppy. Gaming realism has never been this good. Ever. Every single detail within the game has been captured perfectly, even down to David Beckham’s tattoos. Another thing worth mentioning is the stadium and crowd shots, these things are often forgotten in some games, but again, Road to World Cup 2006 delivers incredible detail.

The game itself is all about taking your team through the most important journey in sport, the road to the world cup. This sees you choose your favourite footballing country and manage the squad, their tactics, and just about everything else as you play qualifying matches and warm-up tournaments.

The controls are easy to manage and make for very realistic and flowing action on the pitch, with some super silky moves for your stars to pull off. If you hadn’t already noticed, the key word here is ‘realism’. I would almost call this a soccer simulator rather than game. So if you want to be blown away by what the Xbox 360 has to offer, just chuck in Road to World Cup 2006, sit back, and enjoy!
